My Love and Passion

Posted on Jun 11th, 2008 by Daniel : Student Daniel
Hi everyone, this is my first blog and I don't have any friends right now so I don't know if anyone is reading this but I'm going to post it anyway. I found this site because of FastWeb because of the Gaia scholarship and have decided to become a member. This site is definitely not MySpace and I'm really glad it's not. I look forward to becoming an active member on this site and inviting some friends over so, I'm off to fill out my profile.
Below are my responses to the scholarship I was talking about. I already knew what I would write about when I started because I've been thinking about exactly these things for years now. The only hard part was writing it down especially with a 250 word limit.

1)    As head architect, I will lead a group of architects and engineers in creating an ocean arcology as a symbol of unity and conservation.

2)    I love art, science, learning, and the combination of those three: architecture; and these loves fuel my love of creating. Pouring time, energy, and a piece of yourself to create something, and with architecture something much larger than yourself. Architecture has a purpose, it has a function; nothing has ever been built just to look at. Architecture is the application of art. It's the creation of space to serve the public. Architecture is one of the few things common to humans that unites us not divides us.

In the fall I will be attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and pursuing a five-year degree in architecture. I will return to school for my master's and Ph.D. During my education I will be working in a medium-sized firm as well as traveling to different architectural hubs across the globe. All the time learning about different cultures and understanding how they've used architecture to change the world around them. I will use this experience and education to achieve my life's goal which is to lead a team in designing and constructing an ocean arcology. An arcology is essentially a city in an efficient self-sustained package, imagine the Pentagon but on a much larger scale. The oceanic site ( on top of, not under or next to) will tackle the city's many consumption needs (i.e. energy, water, food, etc.) and will serve as a symbol and setting for international peace.

3) Job Description:

Worker will enjoy a creatively, spiritually, and intellectually fulfilling life. Worker will live independent of negative substances and will continually exercise and treat their body as a temple.

Creative and intellectual fulfillment will be achieved through art, general design, the creation and ordering of space, and a commitment to lifelong learning and mental challenges. Spiritual fulfillment will be achieved through the following of and more importantly the understanding of said worker's religious doctrines. Worker will also strive to understand religious beliefs of others. During their life worker will fulfill their individual purpose and/or calling.

Once a certain level of economic and social stability has been reached worker must then return (with interest included) the love and support that said worker's family, friends, and community have invested in them through local, national, and perhaps global community service. Until such level has been attained worker will give to the following generations in any way they can.
